Went to see Iron Man with the MovieBears last night. It was great, though we were in the very first row. Kinda like IMAX. We haven't been to the movies in quite a while, and it's always good to see so many friends that we just don't see too much of these days, due to our domestic coccooning.

I had a follow up appointment with my opthamologist. A few months ago, I got new glasses at Lenscrafters, and in the course of the examination they discovered my intracorneal pressure was a bit on the high side. My GP, whom I love (wel, not that way) referred me to an eye doctor down the hall, and he confirmed it was a bit high, but no sign of glaucoma so far. The follow-up on Monday showed the pressure had dropped, so I'm not going blind after all. Whew--we have so many DVDs to catch up on, which is the way we normally see movies and thus our cocoon status.

Steve ([livejournal.com profile] rootbeer1) and I are both going to the gym a lot more--well, more for me, anyway. I generally swim laps, and sometimes do the treadmill or recumbent bicycle. And we're eating pretty sensibly--lots of whole grains and lean proteins. Tonight I'm making Salade Niçoise with roasted salmon à la Ina Garten (whom I love--we want to live in Easthampton and be her new gay friends).

Our online friend Steve from Virginia was in town, so we spent some time with him. My Steve took him to Muir Woods, etc. He was hanging out with us the other night when FTP ([livejournal.com profile] fredtheplumber) stopped by to install our new garbage disposal. We bantered and chatted with Fred as he worked, about his and Donovan's ([livejournal.com profile] biggreddee) trip to Barcelona, and after he left, visiting Steve said, "When you said the plumber was coming over, I expected a grizzled old guy. I should have known in San Francisco that your plumber would be a young, hot gay guy!" BTW, FTP, aside from being the aforementioned hot, and sweet too, is the best damn plumber in San Francisco, so call him for all your plumbing needs.

The house across the street went up for sale a few months ago. We went to the open house, and it was a hot mess. Smelled like pee-pee, and had all kinds of deficiencies. Well, it looks like someone bought the wreck and is going to flip it--they've been working nonstop for the past few weeks. Gutted the kitchen, ripped out the carpet, repainted (we were afraid the minty-green primer was the final color, but thankfully it's a darker shade. We have to look at it out our front windows, after all). It will be nice when the work is done and our street is quiet once again.

That is all.
