Sitting here relaxing while Steve ([livejournal.com profile] rootbeer1) snoozes. Just got back from a leisurly sushi lunch in the Castro at Tim ([livejournal.com profile] gotmoof)'s favorite place, then a bunch of open houses. The last house we saw was just down the street, an Eichler built the same year as ours, but just a tad more square footage (but our lot is much larger). It does have the original Philippine mahogany wood paneling intact, which makes us want to strip our walls---under the paint, we have them too. At $957,000, we think it's a bargain and will sell pretty quickly.

Last night Ray ([livejournal.com profile] profkampf) and Jim ([livejournal.com profile] poohbearjim) called after dinner and said they were bored, so they came over bearing ice cream. We played four rounds of Whoonu, a new game I got with my birthday gift card to Borders, some Scattergories, and a bit of Taboo. We had a lot of fun--it's great to have friends that live so close and can just pop over on the spur of the moment.

Yesterday we did some shopping, and got amongst other things some water plants for our pond. The water is now crystal clear and it actually looks kinda nice.

Last week was busy with work and various things, as I fought off some kind of mild intestinal bug. Wednesday was my birthday, and Steve arranged a little house party with a few of our close friends here in the City. Present were Ray and Jim (see above), Dave, John ([livejournal.com profile] keanubear) and Greg, Victor and Mel, and Gregg ([livejournal.com profile] alpenhorn) and Jim. We ordered tons of Chinese food and sat around and ate and drank and laughed. I got some wonderful gifts, too. Thanks guys---love you all.

That's all, in reverse order.

Dahlink,
Yikes we missed your birthday! Happy Birthday!
I am looking to pin down the recipe for a greek dish from a neighbor. You and I talked about Pastichio, or whatever and I tried it, but not what I remembered. I think it was closer to a pasta frittata, and found a recipe using feta cheese and elbow macaroni. So, my question is, does feta cook up like riccota? I mean the cooked spongy consistancy?
